Research indicates people with dementia experience stress whilst being cared for in hospital . There is a need for approaches which promote the maintenance of the social self, not only to reduce distress, but to create a shareable experience.
Since 2024, we have been delighted to be associated with an exciting NHS Tayside project called 'Live and Jive’. The aim of the project was to create a fun-filled, safe space where people living with dementia could come together with volunteers, families and staff to enjoy meaningful activities and reduce feelings of loneliness and stress and distress.
Before each our event patients request their favourite tunes or meaningful songs which are then dedicated to them and performed live by our band.
